The Final Countdown

Lots of people have asked us what we’ve been doing ahead of our travels. Today, we spent quite a while making sure all the electrical sockets in the house are off and trying to shove too much rubbish into our general waste bin as part of an effort to leave our house in a suitable state for us to come back to is some kind of reverse nesting purge. At one point I was literally in the wheely bin trying to stamp down the rubbish. Maybe like expectant parents, DINKs (Dual Income No Kids) about to go on the mini-retirement of their lives naturally want un-cosy their house to emotionally decouple from the place we spend more time than any other.

When not completing boring life admin we’ve also had the privilege of attending a plethora of leaving drinks, bon voyage parties and coffee catch ups with our nearest and dearest. Thank you to everyone who has made the effort to give us a wonderful send off, it really means the world, and if we didn’t see you, we’re sending you a virtual hug and kiss! One of the few downsides of going on an adventure like ours is how much we’ll miss all our people at home.

As we go into our last 12 or so hours in Cardiff, we’re feeling equal parts excited and nervous (Matt is the excited 50% and I am the nervous 50%) but we are finally ready to go! Here comes Dubrovnik, by mid-afternoon tomorrow!
