If you’ve been enthralled by our blog posts thus far and are convinced Chicago’s a fascinating city, just wait until you see it with hordes of blokes sporting Adidas tracksuits, vintage Manchester City shirts, and blindingly-white bucket hats. Now that’s what I call multiculturalism.
We headed to a bar and, in true British rock gig fashion, had many beers and cocktails to whet the whistle before a long night of 90s singalong bangers.
After a long trek to Soldier Field, the regimentally-named home of the Chicago Bears, we caught the ending of the support act, Cage The Elephant. You’ll know them for ‘Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked’ and that other song they play.
Before long, the lights dimmed, and everyone’s favourite sibling rivalry in band form came onto the stage. The energy was fantastic. Liam Gallagher may indeed be what my grandfather would call ‘a complete pillock’ but his swagger is just something else.
Words can only do the gig so much justice. Please enjoy the video and excuse the off-key singing you may hear. There’s a reason the one-and-only gig I played was behind a drum kit rather than a microphone.
